Our Vision for the Butterfly Garden
The Barnet Park Butterfly Garden was conceived as a sanctuary for both butterflies and the community. Our vision is to create a peaceful retreat where people of all ages can connect with nature, learn about the importance of pollinators, and enjoy the simple pleasures of a garden. By fostering an environment rich in biodiversity, we aim to inspire a love for nature and promote environmental stewardship within our community.
The Floral Highlights Include:
Wild Lupine, Blue Eyed Grass, Narrow Leaved Vervain, Blue Lobelia, Wild Bergamont, Prairie Smoke, Cylindrical Blazing Star, Harebell, Wild Columbine, Spotted Beebalm and Hairy Beard Tongue.
Hairy Beard Tongue
With support from the 2024 OPG Power For Change Project grant, we revitalized our garden. A durable stone edging was added, and 96 native plants were purchased/planted to boost biodiversity and provide a crucial food source for pollinators.
